Today we’re happy to announce that our team at Taia Translations has released a seamless integration with the popular localization management solution Poeditor.Â
This integration allows software developers to easily have all their content localized already during the building of their applications. It also allows for continuous localization, with the many advantages this brings. In addition, it applies not only to web applications, but also to software localization in general, including websites, games, e-commerce platforms and desktop applications.
What is Poeditor?
Poeditor is a popular application that allows teams and software developers to easily manage localization content in their applications. It integrates directly with your code repository in GitHub, GitLab and similar solutions, extracts your content and helps you manage your localization segments.
It works with most of the popular localization formats such as .po, .xml or .json.
What is Taia?
Taia is an easy-to-use web platform for managing and ordering translation services. It allows users to handle all their localization projects in one place, either by outsourcing to professional translators or by translating themselves with the assistance of advanced AI-powered tools.
How the Poeditor integration with Taia Translations helps to streamline your software localization
The new integration between Taia and Poeditor allows you to seamlessly integrate with your code repository, enabling all your content to be easily localized without any intervention at all from your end.Â
The continuous localization solution ensures your software updates are localized in record time, so you can focus on building software that your users will love, no matter what language they speak, leaving the localization process to us.
In simple terms, it works like this:
Every time your developers push code to your code repository, Poeditor will automatically extract any segments that need to be translated.
Once a day, or every few days, depending on your settings, the Taia app will fetch any new updates and create new projects in your Taia dashboard.
Once the strings from your application are in the Taia app, we will pre-translate any existing segments from your Translation Memory in order to keep the costs down and the translations consistent.
You can decide to have all your projects translated by Taia professional translators (select between multiple different quality tiers), or alternatively, you can use Catapult to translate your content with your internal team, using our latest AI-assisted translation tools.
Once the project is finished on the Taia app, it’s automatically synced back to Poeditor and, consequently, back to your repository.
Easy, right? Once it’s set up, you literally don’t have to worry about handling your translation process anymore. It’s all taken care of automatically by the API integration and our team.
Let’s take an in-depth look at how to set it all up and what happens in the background.
Step 1: Prepare your code repository for the localization process and integrate it with Poeditor
You could manually upload your localization files, such as a .po file, into Poeditor, but we highly recommend you manage your code in a modern GIT enabled repository. At Taia Translations we use GitLab, for example. Once your code is safely managed in a secure modern repository, it’s a pretty straightforward process that can be done in minutes, provided that your codebase is ready for software localization with solutions such as l18n. You can find more information about how to set up Poeditor for your repository here.
Step 2: Connect Taia to Poeditor
Once you’ve verified that your localization files, such as .PO, .XML or .JSON, are properly imported into Poeditor, it’s time you let Taia know about your project. At this stage, we like to help our clients with the whole process, so please reach out to us here, and we’ll arrange everything for you. All we need from you is a list of your Poeditor projects with the API keys and to understand what kind of service you would like us to apply to your files.
Step 3: Sit back and see your software get translated and localized
At this stage, all your translation needs will be automatically synced into Taia. We’ll handle them, as agreed in advance, and make sure the files you get back are not only linguistically perfectly localized and ready for your users but also technically correct and compatible with your software. We do recommend someone on your team reviews the content inside a local version of your application, but we can also set up a development environment where our reviewers can make sure everything is pitch-perfect directly in-situ.
What’s not to like about a set-up like this?
The best part is we don’t charge anything extra to set up the automation. All you pay for are any new segments that aren’t already stored in our smart translation memory. Plus, since our translators can work much more efficiently due to the high level of automation, you’re likely to end up paying much less when compared to traditional language service providers.
We hope you’ll enjoy this new feature and are looking forward to helping more businesses streamline their software localization with continuous integrations such as this one.
