Catapult case study with Hyundai

“I have been using Catapult program regularly for some time now and its quality of work is really good. The style and accuracy with which my technical documents were translated was exactly what I expected it to be. I am really impressed with their team who worked closely with me to further develop software.”

About Hyundai

Hyundai is one of the best-selling car brands in Slovenia. Their success isn’t only due to car sales, but also to a well-organized sales and service network. This was possible due to their investment in employee and business partners’ knowledge skills.

They regularly produce content for internal education and knowledge sharing and localize it to specific countries.

Depending on the changes to their materials this process can either be simple or very time-consuming.

They started using Catapult during one of those high content periods.

Challenges They Faced

Hyundai has a couple of interesting challenges that make it really hard to outsource their translations to outside agencies.

  • Their content has a very specific vocabulary that is hard to learn and even harder to outsource.

  • At the same time, they don’t produce enough content that needs to be translated every day to justify hiring an in-house translator.
Even if they did, they would spend countless hours on-boarding the new translator and for the new team member to get to know their processes.

  • Their expert was working on translations in a Word document, which was time-consuming and didn’t have all the benefits of modern CAT tools.

These were some of the challenges they were facing before they started using Catapult.

How we Helped Aleksander

After talking to their technical trainer, Aleksander, we knew that Catapult would help them solve most of their problems.

We prepared a demo for him, using their own documents, so he was able to see the process on the same documents he was working on.

The whole onboarding process with one of our skilled team members only took 20 minutes.

“it is super simple to learn and use”. — Aleksander

After the first demo, Aleksander uploaded a reference document with frequently used abbreviations, which saved him precious time when translating.

The effect of the translation memory technology wasn’t seen right away, but after a few weeks of usage, Aleksander saw Catapult suggesting more accurate translations upfront.

Catapult Benefits Aleksander Found Useful

Translation Memory

A technology that “remembers your previous translations and stores them” within your private database. The more you translate, the more accurate the suggestions are.

Easy-to-use Interface

The app is easy to use and is easy to understand! No unnecessary clicks, everything is accessible at your fingertips.

Keeps the Same Format

You can upload your document in one of the 60+ file types and download it in the same formatting. This way you won’t spend any time on corrections!

Results

Aleksander estimates that he saves between 60% to 75% of translation time using Catapult in comparison to translating documents manually.

The translation process now enables him to translate their documents in a few easy steps, with the translated document maintaining all original formatting. Meaning he doesn’t have to spend additional time tidying things up.

All in all, by using Catapult Hyundai gets to translate faster, easier and more accurately than before!

As Aleksander would say: “It couldn’t be any easier!”.
