1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Taia's services ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User" or "you") and Taia Translations Ltd ("Taia", "we", "us", or "our").

3. Description of Service
Taia provides AI-powered translation services, including:
- AI Translation: Automated translation using artificial intelligence
- CAT Editor: Computer-Assisted Translation tools for manual editing
- Translation Memory: Database of previously translated segments for reuse
- Glossary Management: Terminology management and consistency tools
- Team Collaboration: Multi-user project management features
- API Access: Programmatic access to translation services (Pro plan)
- Professional Translation: Human translation services by professional linguists
4. User Eligibility
To use our Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old or have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
5. Account Registration
5.1 Free Account
You can create a free account by providing:
- Name
- Email address
- Password (or sign in with Google)
5.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
5.3 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
- Abuse or misuse the Service
- Fail to pay for services rendered
6. Subscription Plans and Pricing
6.1 Free Plan
- Basic AI translation features
- Limited translation volume
- No credit card required
6.2 Paid Plans
- Basic Plan: Increased translation volume, advanced features
- Pro Plan: API access, team collaboration, priority support
- Enterprise Plan: Custom volume, dedicated support, SLA guarantees
6.3 Pricing
Current pricing is available at taia.io/pricing. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.
6.4 Billing
- Subscription Billing: Charged monthly or annually in advance
- Professional Translation Services: Usage-based billing charged immediately upon completion (or monthly for Enterprise clients)
7. Payment Terms
7.1 Payment Processing
Standard Payments: All payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your credit card information. By providing payment information, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Enterprise Payments: Enterprise clients also have the option to pay via bank transfer on invoice.
7.2 Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel anytime from your account settings.
7.3 Failed Payments
If payment fails, we will retry up to 3 times. If all retries fail, your subscription may be suspended until payment is received.
7.4 Taxes
All prices in the app clearly display applicable tax levels (VAT, etc.) where required. You are responsible for any additional taxes applicable in your jurisdiction.
8. Refund Policy
8.1 Subscription Refunds (UK Consumer Rights Act)
In accordance with UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, you have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel your subscription for a full refund, provided you have not extensively used the service.
After 14 days, refunds may be issued on a pro-rated basis at our discretion for the following reasons:
- Service outage or unavailability
- Significant service defect
- Billing error
8.2 AI Translation Credits
No refunds for consumed AI translation credits or usage-based charges. These are considered consumed services.
8.3 Professional Translation Services
Refunds available if:
- Translation not delivered within agreed timeframe
- Significant quality issues (subject to review)
- Service not provided as described
8.4 How to Request a Refund
Email [email protected] with "Refund Request" in the subject line. Include your account email, reason for refund, and invoice number if applicable. We will respond within 5 business days.
9. User Content and Intellectual Property
9.1 Your Content
You retain all ownership rights to the content you upload for translation ("Your Content").
9.2 License to Process
By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and translate Your Content for the purpose of providing the Service. This license terminates when you delete Your Content or close your account.
9.3 Translated Content
You own all rights to translations generated by our Service. However, AI translations are provided "as-is" and may contain errors (see Section 11 - Disclaimers).
9.4 Sensitive Content
Important: Do not upload confidential, sensitive, or personal data. Our AI translation service processes files through third-party providers. For sensitive content, use our professional human translation services with appropriate legal safeguards.
9.5 Prohibited Content
You may not upload content that:
- Violates any law or regulation
- Infringes on intellectual property rights
- Contains malware or harmful code
- Is defamatory, obscene, or offensive
- Violates privacy or data protection laws
10. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree NOT to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
- Use the Service for illegal or fraudulent purposes
- Impersonate others or provide false information
11. Disclaimers and Limitations
11.1 "As-Is" Service
The Service is provided "as-is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
11.2 AI Translation Accuracy
Important: AI translations may contain errors, inaccuracies, or mistranslations. We do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, or suitability of AI translations for any particular purpose. Always review and verify AI translations before use, especially for:
- Legal documents
- Medical or health-related content
- Financial information
- Safety-critical content
- Published or public-facing materials
11.3 Service Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. Downtime may occur due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
11.4 Third-Party Services
We are not responsible for the performance, availability, or policies of third-party services (payment processors, AI engines, authentication providers).
12. Limitation of Liability
12.1 Liability Cap
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Taia's total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of:
- The amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or
- £100 (one hundred British pounds)
12.2 Exclusion of Damages
We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business
- Loss of data or content
- Cost of substitute services
- Reputational harm
12.3 Statutory Rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Taia, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any law or third-party rights
- Your Content or use of the Service
- Your negligence or willful misconduct
14. Professional Translation Services
14.1 Human Translation
Professional translation services are provided by qualified human linguists, either employed by Taia or contracted translation agencies/freelancers.
14.2 Quality Standards
Professional translations follow industry best practices and may include quality assurance processes (proofreading, review, revision).
14.3 Delivery Timeframes
Delivery timeframes are estimated and may vary based on project complexity, language pair, and translator availability. We will notify you of any significant delays.
14.4 Revisions
If you believe a professional translation contains errors, contact us within 14 days of delivery. We will review and provide free revisions for genuine quality issues.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
EU Consumers: If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in your local courts under EU consumer protection laws.
16. Dispute Resolution
16.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating formal proceedings, please contact us at [email protected] to resolve the dispute informally. Most disputes can be resolved through good-faith negotiation.
16.2 Mediation
If informal resolution fails, we encourage mediation through a mutually agreed mediator before pursuing litigation.
16.3 Small Claims
Either party may bring claims in small claims court if the claim qualifies and is brought in the proper venue.
17. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date
- Notify you via email or prominent notice on the Service
- Give you at least 30 days' notice before changes take effect
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and may request a pro-rated refund of any prepaid fees.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Taia regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
