Who needs Polish translation
Poland has nearly 38 million people, one of the larger populations in the European Union. It is a major manufacturing base and a large consumer market, which makes Polish important both for companies selling into Poland and for companies whose own staff and suppliers work in Polish.
Polish buyers, employees and public bodies expect documentation in Polish. EU product rules generally expect instructions, labels and safety information to be available in the official language of the country where the product is sold. A manual in English may not meet that expectation.
Typical documents
- User manuals and installation guides, often with diagrams and numbered steps
- Product catalogs and data sheets, where tables and part numbers must survive
- Safety data sheets and compliance documents
- Contracts, terms and conditions, and tenders
- Packaging and labels, where space is tight
- Websites and software strings
Most of these are laid out in Word, PowerPoint or spreadsheets (InDesign on Pro). Taia keeps the layout, so you get back a Polish file that looks like the original instead of a block of text to reformat.
Where Polish translation goes wrong
Seven cases. Polish nouns, adjectives and many numerals change their endings with their role in the sentence. A product name or term that is not declined correctly reads as an error even when the sentence around it is fluent. Record your terms in the glossary, and have a native linguist check the declined forms in documents customers rely on.
Plural forms. Polish uses different forms for one item, a few items and many items (1 plik, 2 pliki, 5 plików). A software string such as {count} files needs separate forms, or it needs to be rewritten so the number stands alone.
Gendered verbs. Past-tense verbs change with the gender of the speaker or the user, so a message such as “You have uploaded the file” needs a form chosen for the user. Neutral wording avoids the problem, and you can write that preference in the style guide.
Diacritics and address. Polish uses ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ź and ż, and ł in particular is lost or replaced by older fonts and encodings. Test the final file in the program your customers will use. Business documents use the formal address, “Pan” and “Pani” for a man and a woman, and the register should be decided once and kept the same across the manual, the website and the app.
How Taia handles Polish
Upload your file (Taia reads 65+ formats on Pro), choose Polish, and AI translation returns the file in minutes with the formatting in place. Customer content is never used to train AI models.
Consistency comes from three tools that work together. A glossary fixes how your product terms are translated. A style guide sets tone and address. Translation memory stores approved segments so related documents match. Glossary, style guide and translation memory are on Pro and Enterprise. Translation memory does not make AI translation cheaper. It keeps wording consistent, and on professional per-word work, matches are discounted.
When a document needs a human, someone on your own team can review it in Translation Studio on Pro, or you can order professional translation from a native Polish linguist.
