How Quantum scaled from 1 to 6 languages with AI + expert review

Taia's AI drafts and in-platform review helped Quantum's own subject matter experts expand beyond one French Canadian course into six target languages, without relying on professional linguists to translate every file.

About Quantum Connections

Quantum Connections logo

Quantum Connections is a global dialogue initiative that helps people and organizations build the relational skills for healthier connection and better performance. It works with workplaces, leadership teams, schools, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, faith communities and public agencies.

Quantum builds its own curriculum: live classroom materials, self-paced courses and a video series, covering personal development, organizational development and certification. Its programs include the Safe Conversations Dialogue Workshop and Work Skills: Communicating at Work.

REACH is the project Quantum uses to track its progress toward sharing its mission with 2.45 billion people over the next 20 years. That number can only be reached with a curriculum learners can use in their own language.

Jamie Griffeth is Quantum’s Chief Operating Officer and answered our questions for this case study.

The challenge

Every Quantum course is written in English first. Before Taia, translation happened document by document: Quantum’s certified partners translated each file, and a native speaker with subject knowledge worked through the material one word or phrase at a time.

That produced one translated course. The core personal development course existed in French Canadian, and nothing else did.

Quantum needed far more than that. Its organizational development products, certification materials and courses all had to follow into French Canadian, and requests for other languages kept arriving.

"We needed a new way, beyond having a native speaker and a subject matter expert start from our materials and translate them personally, one word or phrase at a time."

What Quantum does in Taia

Quantum translates its curriculum in Taia with AI, mostly using the Advanced AI model. Its own subject matter experts then review the result in Taia’s editor. The reviewers know the material. They are not professional linguists, and that shapes what they need from the tools, as you’ll see below.

Files go in and come out in their original format, whether that’s a classroom handout or a subtitle file for the video series.

“Just this week we had to translate quickly several SRT files for one of our video series, the upload and download process were very easy.”

On subtitling the video series

Matija, our founder, has been Quantum’s contact from the first demo onwards.

“Matija has worked closely with us every step of the way from our first demo to the most technical questions.”

target languages. Before Taia, Quantum had one course in French Canadian. Today French and Spanish are live in its legacy products and still growing, French Canadian now covers its core products, and German, Romanian, Portuguese and Persian are in their early stages.

Months of work became much shorter timeframes.

The Safe Conversations Dialogue Workshop is fully translated, and Work Skills: Communicating at Work is in progress. So far Quantum has translated more than 200,000 words in Taia, including the 20,000-word Dialogue Workshop into German, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian in a single project. Jamie says the lower cost and faster turnaround brought translated materials to participants sooner.

“We have shortened the months of work into much shorter timeframes to be able to produce the translations we need.”

On turnaround

Languages nobody had considered are now on the table.

Quantum’s newest target language is one it hadn’t considered before, and Jamie says adding it would have been impossible without Taia, whether because of cost or technical knowledge. Romanian is expected to be among the next to go live.

“New regions are opening weekly and the speed at which we are able to localize is remarkable, which has more of our leaders asking for assistance.”

On what changed inside Quantum

Consistency gets harder as the curriculum gets more complex.

Quantum’s curriculum has its own terminology and tone. According to Jamie, the more advanced AI models help more as the team moves into its more complex courses. The team now wants to build more glossaries and translation memories, so that terminology carries across every language automatically.

What’s still missing: a preview of the document.

We asked for critical feedback, and Jamie gave us one concrete request. Quantum’s reviewers are subject matter experts, not linguists, and they understand a sentence best when they see it where it sits on the page. Today they keep the English and translated documents open beside the editor to get that context.

“A preview of the document would be helpful. Since we are working with subject matter experts rather than experienced linguists, we have found it helpful for our human reviewers to have the English and translated documents on hand. The actual document helps understand the context.”

On what Taia should build next

That’s fair, and it applies to anyone reviewing with experts rather than translators.

What Jamie names first is the team.

Jamie’s first answer about the experience was about people: deadlines met ahead of schedule, technical questions answered almost in real time, by humans. When a hidden technical error affected Quantum’s account, our team found it, then told Quantum what had happened and how it was fixed.

“The communication with Taia.io has been nothing short of exemplary as they have met deadlines ahead of promised times … responses to technical questions were answered almost in real time, by humans, in a way that is both articulate and easy to understand.”

On working with our team

Asked whether they would recommend Taia, and why:

“Absolutely. Affordable software that keeps our file types intact from upload to download, efficient AI translation alongside a human reviewer, and a very responsive team make Taia unique.”

What comes next

Quantum’s curriculum keeps growing, so it will go back to earlier translations as well as add new languages. With a 20-year goal of reaching 2.45 billion people, Jamie is clear about what that requires.

“It would be impossible to achieve our goal without a multilingual product, understanding the number of people we have to connect with our core mission in the next 20 years.”
